Dec 2018 The Individual Mandate was eliminated with the passage of the Tax Cut and Jobs Act.
Jan 2018 Cadillac Tax goes into effect on generous health plans
Oct 2017 Presidential Executive Order Promoting Health Choice and Competition Across the United States.  Directs Federal Agencies to expand access to health coverage by allowing more employers to form Association Health Plans.
Jan 2016
- Employer Mandate begins for employers with 50-99 employees
Jun 2015 The U.S. Supreme Court rules that the Subsidies can be given to individuals in states that do not have a State Exchange.
Jan 2015 - Physicians will be paid on the quality of care, not the volume

- Penalty goes into effect

- Employer Mandate begins for employers with 100 or more employees
Nov 2014 - On 15 Nov 2014 the Small Business Health Options Program (SHOP) will be available for 5 states (IL, NJ, MO, OH, DE).
Mar 2014 - Individual Mandate further extended to October 1, 2016
- Enrollment deadline extended

Jan 2014 - All Americans are required to have health insurance or pay a penalty

- Insurance coverage requirement begins

- Employers with fifty(50) or more employees are required to provide insurance or pay apenalty

- No more limits on the benefits insurance companies can pay out

- Tax credits and subsides for the middle class begins

- Health Insurance Exchanges for individuals and small businesses goes into effect

- 50% increase of the small business tax credit that went into effect in 2010

- Medicare becomes available to Americans that earn less than 133% of the poverty level

- Health Coverage through Small Business Health Insurance Options program (SHOP) begins.  Enrollment begins October 1, 2013.
Dec 2013 - Individual Mandate extended to October 1, 2014
Nov 2013 SHOP website delayed until November 2014
Oct 2013 - Health Insurance Marketplaces Schedule to open (Exchanges)

- States receive two(2) more years of funding for CHIP

- Enrollment in Small Business Health Insurance Options program (SHOP) begins
Aug 2013 Congress gets exemption from Obamacare (National Review Online)
Jul 2013 The employer mandate set to begin in 2014 is delayed until 2015 (Dept of Treasury)
Jan 2013 - Medicare Part A payroll tax hike and a 3.8% unearned income tax go into effect

- Obamacare provides new funding to statemedicar programs
Oct 2012 Standardized billing goes into effect
June 2012 The US Supreme Court rules that the law is constitutional, but also ruled that each state can decide whether or not to expand Medicaid.  See the full text of the ruling.
Oct 2011 Community First Choice Option take effect (states to offer home and community-based services to disabled individuals through Medicaid)
Jan 2011 - "Donut Hole" begins to close for Medicare Part D

- New penalties for HSA disbursements kick in

- New fees on pharmaceutical companies start

- New taxes on medical devices begin

- HHS granted 773 waivers for 2011 to exempt small businesses from the elimination of the mini-med plan
Sep 2010 Provisions in the law requires insurers to do the following:
- eliminagte co-pays for preventive care
- cover young adults on their parent's plan until age 26
- stop selling mini-med plans that cap the dollar amounts paid for care
Jul 2010 - The first of 20 new taxes and tax hikes goes into effect
- healthcare.gov launched
- Pre-existing condition coverage goes i nto effect
Mar 2010 President Obama signs the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law
