The key to any successful business is having a good product or service that their customers want.  Good products will always be in high demand.

A good product should be posess these qualities:

Visually Appealing:

Visually appealing means that the product captures the attention of the customer.  The colors of the labeling, the artwork the shape of the product compells potential customers to take a closer look.  Use colors and imigary on the label of the product that are attention getting.  Bright and contrasting colors attract more attention.

Well Designed:

Well designed products don’t fall apart.  If it requires the customer to assemble it the assembly procedures must be simple to follow.  Well designed products have a longer shelf life and longer usefullness.  Use quality ingredients and strict quality control procedures to ensure that the final product is a good one.

Functional:

The product you povide must be fully functional.  It must do what the customer expects it to do and what you promised it will do.  Every element must work properly.  Customers will return products that don’t work and demand a refund.  This can cost your busniess financially as well as hurt its reputation.

Attractively Packaged:

Packaging is the method of enclosing or protecting products for storage, distrubtion, sale and use.vHow you package your products will determine whether or not it will garner the attention of potential customers and lure them into buying.  Customers are attracted to the visual appeal of products.  If a product does not capture their attention they’re going to look elsewhere.  Packaging must use attractive colors.  They should also provide the information on the labeling that the customer would like to see in order to make an informed decision (such as ingredients, calories, etc.).

Well Presented:

Presentation is critical.  First impressions are cirtical.  Whether you’re displaying your product at another retail location, at your own location or you’re delivering a service to the customer’s site it’s important to make a good presentation.  If your product is being sold at a different retail location go to retail stores and take a look at how items from other competitors are being presented.  Learn the location and amount of space that they occupy in the store.  Determine if that location gets visited by most customers that come into the store.  If you’re displaying the product at your own retail location you can still learn from how other retailers setup and organize the display of products in their stores.  If you’re displaying your product at a customer’s location (for example for a wedding or an outing) visit the site before hand and learn where they want you to present your product so that you can plan and make the best of the situation.
