2012 Minimum Wage Changes

 

The federal minimum wage which is currently set at $7.25 will not change until September 2012 when it will increase to $7.65.  However, beginning in January 2012 seven states will be increasing their minimum wages.  These States are:

Arizona:  The current minimum wage in Arizona is $7.35.  Beginning in January 1, 2012 the minimum wage will be raised to $7.65.  This is an increase of $0.30.

Colorado:  The current minimum wage in Colorado is $7.36.  Beginning in January 1, 2012 the minimum wage will be raised to $7.64.  This is an increase of $0.28.  Tipped employees must be paid at least $4.62 per hour.

Florida:  The current minimum wage in Florida is $7.31.  Beginning in January 1, 2012 the minimum wage will be raised to $7.67.  This is an increase of $0.31.  Tipped employees must be paid at least $4.65 per hour.

Montana:  The current minimum wage in Montana is $7.35.  Beginning in January 1, 2012 the minimum wage will be raised to $7.65.  This is an increase of $0.30.

Ohio:  The current minimum wage in Ohio is $7.40.  Beginning in January 1, 2012 the minimum wage will be raised to $7.70.  This is an increase of $0.30.  For tipped employees it will increase from $3.70 to $3.85.  The increase will only affect employers who gross more than $283,000 per year instead of the current $271,000 per year.

Oregon:  The current minimum wage in Oregon is $8.50.  Beginning in January 1, 2012 the minimum wage will be raised to $8.80.  This is an increase of $0.30.

Washington:  The current minimum wage in Washington is $8.67.  Beginning in January 1, 2012 the minimum wage will be raised to $9.04.  This is an increase of $0.37.
