In May 2011
Florida Governor Rick Scott reached agreement with state
legislatures to reduce the tax burden on 15,000 small businesses.
Though he was unable to get legislatures to lower the tax rate below
5.5%, he was able to get agreement on raising the corporate income
tax exemption level from $5,000 to $25,000. This means that 15,000
small businesses will not have to pay taxes. A small victory for
small businesses in the state of Florida
