New York Minimum Wage Increase

A bill to increase the minimum wage in New York is making its way through the legislature.  The proposal is being introducec by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D-Manhattan) to increase New York’s minimum wage from $7.25 an hour to $8.50 with annual indexing for inflation.

According to the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) who opposes the measure, the estimates is that seven of every 10 job losses would occur in small businesses.
