After a steep decline in November
the Small Business Optomism Index saw a small increase for
December 2012. The index ran by the
National Federation For Independent Businesses (NFIB)
saw a steep drop of 5.6 points in November 2012. In
December 2012 it increased by 0.5 points. It currently
stands at 88 points for December 2012 versus 87.5 in
November 2012.
According to the
survey seventy (70) percent of owners
surveyed characterized the current period as a bad time to
expand; one in four of them cite political uncertainty as
the top reason. Taxes (23 percent) and regulations (21
percent) rank as the top two business problems, with “poor
sales” as a close third (19 percent).
