ACA Repeal Efforts Continue

The repeal of the entire Affordable Care Act (ACA) may be dead for now but efforts to roll back elements of the law has just started.

A new bill [S. 1750: American Job Protection Act] was introduced to remove the Federal mandate on employers to offer health insurance.

The ACA requires employers with 50 or more employees to offer health insurance to their employees.  This has been an impediment to growth because of the added financial burden that small businesses will have to take on once they cross that threshold.

Another bill [S. 1749] was also introduced to remove the individual Federal mandate that require individuals to purchase health insurance whether or not they want it.

Both mandates imposes a fine on businesses and individuals if they do not comply with the law.
