Knowing what to look for when buying a computer can save you money and headaches later on.  You start by determining what capabilities you need.  For example, a fast computer with large storage capacity and it will have to weight less because you will be traveling with it.

Once you know what you're looking for then you can proceed to look for the computer that best meet your needs.  The features described below will enable you to determine which computers meet your requirements.

 

What' Features Are Important When Shopping For Computers
CHIP: This is the type of Processor that runs the computer.  The best ones are made by Intel and AMD.  Dual or Quad Core processors runs the fastest.
MEMORY: Memory is the work area in which open applications run.  The more memory there is the faster the computer will run.  You need a minimum of 4GB of memory.  8GB or 16GB will make your comptuer run super fast.
STORAGE: This is the Hard Drive that stores all of your applications and data.  The larger the storage on the computer the more information you can save.  If you want your computer to be fast look for computers with "Solid State" hard drives.  They have less moving parts and allow for fast data access. 
WEIGHT: The weight of the computer is important if you travel with your device.  The lighter it is the easier it will be to carry it around.  Ultra thin computers are light weight and portable.  They weight under 3 pounds.
SOFTWARE: Any computer that you buy today will come with an operating system.  However, you want to make sure that it is the one that you want.  If it is not ask them to throw in an upgrade if they want to make the sale.  Many computers also come with other applications such as MS Office, Adobe, etc.  Ensure that they are the correct version and type you need.
NETWORKING: Computers can be networked using Ethernet, Wifi or bluetooth.  These fetures are built into computers.  However, some computers may have the ethernet networking port as an external adapter and not integrated into the computer.  Examine the computer to see where it is before you buy it.
PORTS: If ports such as USB, VGA, HDMI, are important to you besure that they are built into the computer.  If you need multiple USB ports be sure that they are there.  Multiple USB ports enable you to attach a mouse, and connect multiple external devices such as printers, scanners, external storage, thumb drives, etc.  VGA and HDMI ports all ow you to connect to projectors and to larger monitors for better viewing.
