Description |
Cartridges |
They are used only in inkjet printers. They contain the ink
that is used for printing. The inkjets are directly built
into the cartridge. Each inkjet cartridge contains one color
of ink. Color inkjet printers requires multiple (typically
4) inkjet cartridges. They only contain a small amount of
ink and thus requires changing often if you print in large
quantities. The typical cost for a replacement inkjet
cartridge is between $15.00 and $34.00. |
Duplexing |
Duplexing is the ability to print both sides of a document,
scan both sides of a document or copy both sides of a
document or two separate pages to both sides of one page. |
Input Capacity |
Input capacity is the volume of paper that an input tray on
the printer can hold. If you print in large volumes then you
want to get a printer that has a large input tray |
Lamination |
Lamination is the process of adding a protective layer to a
print media in order to give it lasting protection from the
weather. Lamination is usually used on print media that is
used outdoors such as posters, banners, billboards, etc.
Lamination is performed by using a laminating machine that
is designed specifically for this purpose. |
Maximum Monthly Duty Cycle |
"Maximum Monthly Duty Cycle" is defined as the maximum
number of pages a device could deliver in a month using a
multishift operation. |
Output Capacity |
Output capacity is the volume of paper that a printer output
tray can hold. If you print in large volumes then you want
to get a printer that has a large output tray. |
Recommended Monthly Page Volume |
This is a recommendation from the manufacturer on how many
pages you should print per month in order to achieve optimum
device performance. |
Sorting |
Sorting is the ability to sort the print job to your
specification. For example, you have a document that
consists of 10 pages and you want to make 10 prints of the
document but you don't want to have to manually gather the
pages in the right order to put together a complete document
after you print them. The sort features on printers can help
you do this automatically. |
Toner |
Laser printers use toner, a powdery substance that is fused
to the paper during the printing process. Toner last longer
because they come in larger amounts as compared to ink
cartridges. They are usually more expensive. The typical
cost per replacement toner is from $59.99 to $204.00. |
