What Is Business Insurance

Business insurance is simply insuring against loss to the business.  Loss to the business could occur due to natural disasters and man made disasters that could result in loss or damage of equipment and personnel.

Insurance companies spread the loss among business owners by collecting premiums from insured businesses, invest in those payments, and create a pool of money to pay out to a covered business if that business has a covered loss.

Types of Business Insurance
Business insurance types include:

- Workers Compensation
- Property Insurance
- Liability Insurance
- Business Owners Policy (BOP)
- Health Insurance
- Bonding Insurance

Do You Need Business Insurance

The simple answer is yes, if you want to protect the business against loss.

Some forms of insurance, such as Workers Compensation Insurance, is also mandatory.  You will be forced to participate in mandatory insurance if you meet certain requirements.

The type of business insurance you need depends on the state requirement, the nature of your business and what you want to protect against.

What Does It Cost

Business insurance can cost as a few dollars per month to hundreds of dollars per month depending on what you want to insure and the amount of coverage you want.

For small businesses insurance cost should cost less than 100 dollars per month.
