A fleet is a collection of vehicles owned, rented or leased by an organization rather than by an individual.  The obvious examples of organizations with fleet vehicles includes, taxi companies, car rental companies, government agencies, shipping companies, construction companies, moving companies, etc.  Even small businesses can have fleet vehicles.  Some of the uses of these vehicles are as follows:

Shipping/Delivery:  Instead of placing packages in the mail many companies are beginning to use their fleet to deliver orders to their customers.  A food catering service would use their fleet of vehicles in this way as well as a flower shop with a delivery service.

Transportation:  Move items to and from a location.  Construction companies for exaple, have to move their equipment and supplies to and from a work site.  A company doing interior decorating also have a requirement to move equipment to and from the site.  Companies may also want to make their employees mobile by giving them an assigned company vehicle so that they can commute quickly to and from the places they need to be.

Utility:  Utility vehicles such as cranes, forklifts, doziers, scrapers, graders, dumpsters, dump trucks, Loaders, etc. are the type of utility vehicles that can also be part of a fleet.
